The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc - JAM is an entrance gateway exam for students aspiring to pursue their master studies or post-graduation and/or doctoral studies in the field of Science. India’s premier institutes in Science & Technology - The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT’s) and the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) organize and conduct the JAM every year with an aim to build the quest for science and related fields in students and help them attain their masters in their fields and further pursue Research and Development.


AIMA–MAT 2016 The JAM enables students to pursue studies at the IIT’s and IISc for the following courses -

M.Sc. (Four Semesters) 
Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D
M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree


The JAM – 2017 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, 12th February, 2017.


AIMA–MAT 2016 Eligibility Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree (in science field) from a recognised university.
Bachelor’s degree via distance studies also permitted.
General or OBC category candidates must have at least 55% of marks however candidates from the reserved category need to be passed via 50% of marks.
Indian as well as Foreign candidates may apply for JAM 2017.
Final year students can also apply.


AIMA–MAT 2016 Exam Pattern & Duration:

The JAM 2017 will be conducted in two sessions I & II. The papers – Biological Sciences (BL), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH) will be scheduled in Session  I (9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon) while the papers – Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematical Statistics (MS) will be scheduled for Session II (2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.).

The papers shall consist of 60 MCQ’s carrying 100 marks (total) divided in 3 sections. Section B and C shall not have any negative marking. The medium of Language is English ONLY.
